Whatever one may think of, an average human is a man/woman of shortcut and trying to find things easy. In our battle for survival, we always go for convenience and do what we think is the easiest way to go, even if that isn’t the only option within our disposal. We all want good things in life for ourselves and our loved ones. But nothing comes easy; we should put in the needed effort before we get to the desired destination. No one will give you success. Success is earned through hard work and dedication.
It’s often easy to tell our friends, our families and our community all they want to hear, not necessarily what they needed to hear, just to make their day. We strive to provide our children with all that they need, sometimes what they don’t even need, in trying to please them. That doesn’t mean our children do not deserve all the care to succeed, but they should be allowed to understand the way of the world, that you don’t get all that you want. I realized, along the way, we compromise our values simply to avoid difficulties of commitment, or we are just being plain lazy.
Some of the important decisions we make in our lives are getting an education and a job. Instead of working to achieve excellence by studying hard, we prefer to scratch the surface. Being the backbone of any positive development, education ought to be our priority in life. Why take it lightly, just because we don’t want to work hard? Likewise, in searching for a job, we often go for material gains rather than excellence and responsibility. Life is far beyond material gain.
What I also realized, often, we do what is easy, not what is right in order to gain an approval from some individuals, to be in a group or feel a sense of belonging. Some people follow the easy path because they cannot face the reality of disappointment. Sometimes speaking the truth might bring people out of their comfort zone or even deprive them of their privileged positions. No matter what your reasons are, doing the right thing is the only way that will liberate you and put you in a better position. Never think otherwise.
Thus, I have decided, as I explore the world, I will do that with all my heart. I will ask questions; I will explore; sometimes, I will make mistakes. I challenge myself to take the hard and right way and not just the easy.
